I love the way you capture light. I started learning photography near a year ago now, but I have never been able to capture natural light well, like you do. My favorite photos that I've taken have been at night, with artificial light from a street lamp or local shop, and at some point, when I have time, I'd like to practice capturing light like you do.
Honestly, I'm not comfortable with studio light or artificial light at night. I keep chasing natural light. Maybe we each find what suits us. Thanks as always.
I'm realizing the allure of your work and your writing is that it perfectly speaks to the magic and essence of photography. It's hard to imagine seeing the world any other way 💗
I really like the few words you wrote to accompany these beautiful photographs. Both the words and photographs helped focus my attention on the beauty you were seeing.
Thank you. In Japanese, we have a word for it: "Setsunai." Often translated as bittersweet, but that's not quite right. It carries an attachment to something lost or just out of reach. What you felt might be close to that.
“Painfully beautiful” - such a brilliant description. How beauty wounds!
The photos also makes me think of the notion of what John Koenig coined ‘Ambedo’, which describes a melancholic trance where one becomes so absorbed in vivid sensory details of a particular moment, which leads to a dawning awareness of the haunting fragility of life.
And I’d add a feeling of “bright sadness” which is often felt so viscerally - chest aches in your case.
That’s insightful I had often wondered what those moments in childhood were. They really felt like light itself was dawning from the objects in front of me like the light slanted on the table.

Thank you. I appreciate the support and for being here.
You see the lights even in stillness story, which is endless because you are generating those lights!
That means a lot, thank you.
Love finding this type of light as it makes the ordinary things spectacular
That's exactly it.
Thanks for a glimse of peace
I appreciate it.

Thank you. Sometimes things I didn't notice while taking the photo show up later as words.
Sublime.
Gorgeous!
Thank you!
The photographs gives off the same feeling as the places described in Territory of Light by Yuko Tsushima. ✨
I haven't read it, but now I want to. I read a lot of her father's work. Thank you for the connection.
Something painfully beautiful about this. I remember childhood observations and my chest aches.

I think longing or loss of something you didn’t know you had?
That might be the closest anyone has come to translating it.

Love the way you captured the kitchen and bathroom sink, very unique lighting.
Those were some of my favorites to shoot.

Thanks so much

Lovely pictures! Especially loved the one with the kitchen sink.
That place means a lot to me.
Lovely art photographs. I am enjoying how you capture stillness.
I really appreciate you saying that.
Love the light looking back at us.
That's exactly how it feels sometimes.
